Hiring the right plumber is very important as they’re responsible for repairing some of the key parts of a home. You may not know much about plumbing or what to look for in a decent plumber, so it can be difficult selecting one.
Whether you’re looking for a plumber in Revesby or Cronulla, here are some characteristics to look out for that will ensure they are reliable and will do a sufficient job.
Properly Qualified
First and foremost you should ensure that the plumber has the correct qualifications to carry out the job. The plumber should be trade qualified, having completed a four-year apprenticeship, so make sure this is the case.
Experienced
Experience is probably the key trait if you want your plumber to be very reliable. A good plumber will have their experience listed so it won’t be hard for you to find out. Also, if they are employed by a relatively large company that’s been around for a while, they’ll generally provide great service and will be able to fix things like blocked drains in Bondi with ease.
Licenced
The plumber must have the correct licencing depending on the state in which they operate. Each state has a different form of licencing that is required before they work. Always confirm that the plumber is licenced before they commence operations.
Insured
Always make sure the plumber has insurance. Both you and the plumber will be protected should something happen whilst they are working. If either of you are injured or an accident occurs, you will be looked after. It’s a must that they have insurance. They should also have a strong warranty policy. A plumber with a guarantee will be very reliable and trustworthy, so always look for this.
Well-Priced
Before selecting a plumber, make sure you have approached or called several and gathered a few different quotes. Getting a better understanding of what the ballpark pricing is like will allow you to make a more educated choice. Avoid hugely overpriced plumbers, but also be weary of those that are very under-priced, as they may use substandard parts or take shortcuts.
Good Communication
A plumber who communicates well is a huge plus. Most of the work they do will probably make little sense to you, so their ability to communicate it in simple terms will go along way in reassuring you. If they’re willing to answer any questions and are polite, they’re most likely reliable. Checking out the plumber online is also a good option as a good online presence will generally mean they’re quite established.
