How to know if your property needs rewiring

You probably think that as long as electricity runs on your property, you’re good to go. But that’s not always the case since certain complications may arise in the long run.

Which is why it’s best to assess your property if electrical rewiring is needed. But how does one know if it’s needed?

Here are some ways to find out:

Old electric wires

An upgrade is always expected when it comes to electronics and gadgets. If you haven’t had your property rewired for quite a long time, then you might need to renew them or else—more problems may come to light.

Check for flickering lights

Usually, the light bulbs are at fault when this happens. But if it persists, then the problem lies on the electrical system.

Outlet problems and discolouration

If your outlets suddenly stopped working and may sometimes produce a spark when you plug something in, then an electrical rewiring is needed.

This problem can and will cause electrocution in the future. The wires may have been chewed off by some rodent or there’s an exposed wire somewhere behind that outlet.

Another one is the discolouration of your outlets. It may sound a bit irrelevant but believe it or not, it’s actually a serious case of faulty wiring. The discolouration is the cause of an exposed wire which is slowly burning the outlet.

Sudden burning smell

One factor that’s also connected to discolouration is the burning smell.

If you suddenly smell something burning around your home, whilst not cooking anything, immediately turn off the electricity. Damaged wires might be the cause of such.
